This is the date PitZone officially opens. By 4 April 2017, you can expect an invite back to NICA PitZone and get paperwork started for the team. Coaches and Ride Leaders will be able to start entering field hours from last season at this time.
April 11, 2017 at 6:00 PM – Parent Information Night at Boise High School Cafeteria
One single parent information night at Boise High School Cafeteria will be held 11 April. This event is open to all students wishing to find out more information about the Boise Braves MTB team, this includes 6th-12th grades from schools that feed into Boise High School (North Jr High, Hillside Jr High, Boise HS, etc). Be prepared for a high energy night while we provide information about our team culture, events, signature fundraiser and how to join the team.
April 13, 2017 at 3:00 PM – Try It Out at Ft. Boise
This year we are encouraging parents and potential Ride Leaders to come out and learn about the program and try out mountain biking with our coaches.
April 20, 2017 at 6:00 PM – Full Team Meeting at CABI Social Hall (11 Latah St, Boise)
This full team meeting is for all returning and new team members (parents, student-athletes, new student-athletes, ride leaders and coaches). Come prepared to pay team dues and register for the FUNdraiser. Team paperwork will be reviewed and event details will be covered while we make sure everyone is registered with NICA’s Pit Zone. We will end with a kick-off for the Desert Dirt Shredfest on 20 May 2017.
April 29-30, 2017 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM – Wilderness First Aid (WFA)
Required for Level 3 Coaches, but anyone can take this valuable class. Price $150 Register HERE
April 29, 2017 At 4:00 PM – CPR
This is a drop-in on the WFA class. Anyone who just requires CPR can register for this time. Price $30 Register HERE
May 20, 2017 at 9:00 AM – Desert Dirt Shredfest at Larson Miller Short Track
The Desert Dirt Shredfest is our team’s signature FUNdraiser. Desert Dirt Shred Fest is a bike-a-thon format event where student-athletes will collect pledges for miles ridden or total event participation. “Fest” is for festival. Four (4) bike shops, the Idaho League “Try-It-Out” trailer, raffle prizes, food trucks and ten (10) teams participating and more. Link to event website coming soon!
Key Dates for Coaches
If you’re a coach, ride leader or a parent interested in being involved in riding with the team, check out these training opportunities:
April 22, Leaders Summit, Coaches Training at Avimor
Risk mitigation, CPR, NICA Philosophy and other key topics for making the step up from ride leader to assistant coach. This training combined with the Sunday training provides the education units required for NICA coach certification level 2.
April 23, Leaders Summit, Ride Leader Training at Avimor
For the basics of riding with the team, coach ride skills and risk management; all for ride leaders, this is your training. This will provide the training required for NICA Level 1 certification.
June 14, 2017 at 6:00 PM – BBMTB Hill Climb at Mountain Cove Road*
Get on your bike and show your pre-season fitness level. This event will allow the BBMTB coaches to assign student-athletes to the appropriate groups based on fitness and skill levels at BBMTB Bike Camp. UPDATE: Due to perfect weather (lots of users) and bushes being overgrown on trail, we may change the course. *Course may change due to changing trail conditions and safety of team and public interaction.
June 23-25, 2017 – Boise Braves Mountain Bike Camp
This is the big one! Bike camp is the “real kickoff” to our season. Plan for an exciting weekend of camping, games, skills training and of course lots of mountain biking. More details continue to be posted on Team Snap.
July 1, 2017 – Official In-Season Starts
1 July 2017 – First practice for returning athletes and Bike Skills Camp attendees
8 July 2017 – Mini Bike Skills Camp (make-up)

July 8, 2017 – Trail Cleanup Day with Treasure Valley Land Trust*
This is our chance to contribute to the cycling community. Show your love of the trails by helping to create more. Times and location (about 12 miles up Bogus Basin Road) will be posted to Team Snap. *For those not attending Skills Makeup Practice
